Netflix Orders A Squid Game Reality Show

The headline isn’t clickbait. It’s just as weird as it sounds! Streaming platform Netflix orders a Squid Game reality show based on their hit Korean horror series. For a nice bag of cash —the largest game show prize ever!— Netflix decided to greenlit an iteration of the dystopian horror show that will see 456 contestants play out for the prize.

In what the platform aims to be the largest reality competition show in recorded history, Netflix tries to embark on Squid Game: The Challenge. An ambitious new series that will make all of us take the time to watch it just to see if anyone drops dead. Well, not really, but if you saw Squid Game, you know, that’s the premise of the show. Now, read our scoop below.

Netflix Orders A Squid Game Reality Show

With the catchy title of Squid Game: The Challenge, streaming giant Netflix plans to milk the cash cow that Squid Game represents for them. Moreover, the Korean horror series created by Hwang Dong-hyuk in 2021 is the most-watched show on the platform, with over a billion viewing hours. Now, the reality competition will take some aspects of the horror show and adapt them into a show.

Taking inspiration from Korean children’s games —just like the plot of the series—Squid Game will incorporate some of the games we saw in the series. Along with some new additions to keep things spicy, we imagine. After all, we can assume that for the sake of Netflix’s corporate and legal branch integrity, the contestants aren’t risking their lives for four million dollars. Although, if we consider just how devoid of morals this world is, it’s not a crazy idea to think about it. Yet, we’re going full nihilist there.

Announced And Greenlit

Bela Bajaria, head of Global TV for Netflix, and Brandon Riegg, the vice-president for unscripted and documentary series, put out a statement on behalf of the company saying that they’re going ahead with the project. Moreover, there will be casting calls for the 456 real-world contestants, and the tension and twists will be there for us to see.

The casting calls will be open for English-language speakers from anywhere in the world. As for the details of the reality series competition, it will run for then episodes. Also, it’ll be filmed in the United Kingdom under the executive production supervision of Toni Ireland, Tim Harcourt, and Stephen Lambert.

Why Is Hustle Rated R?

Who doesn’t love to watch Adam Sandler right? well, at least it is quite evident that people love watching him and his movies since the release of Hustle which has captured the position in the Netflix’s top 10 list and most watched films and has also received a lot of positive reviews feedback. However, one thing that Is eating up the minds of those who haven’t seen the film yet is why it has been rated R, and what is there in the movie that doesn’t make it apt for all the viewers. Well like always we are here to answer that and the answer is in this article, so keep on reading.

Hustle Rated R

Hustle directed by Jeremiah Zagar is rated R which implies that it is recommended for adults and mature audiences. The reason for its rating is the language. The movie is inspirational but does consist of harsh language and crude jokes that might not be suitable for family movie night. There are several curse words but they used them for generating comedy. Even though it has been rated R one thing can be said that it is mild if compared to other R Rater movies. Apart from this the movie does not necessarily consist of nudity and there are no sex scenes, there are just verbal references but nothing is shown. There isn’t any use or reference to drugs too.

About Hustle

Taylor Materne and Will Fetters written movie is a feel-good and inspiring sport-based movie that has comedy and drama.  It is based on Stanley who is an aging international scout for National Basketball Association and is always on the search for bright players. This search has kept him away from his family too. He is then promoted to the position of assistant coach so that he can give time to his family.

But unfortunately, that does not last for long and he is demoted back to scouts duty and this time he is sent overseas for the hunt. Now you will get to see the real fun as he is at the hunt and meets Bo and tries to talk to him and convince him. Meanwhile, this is where a lot of hustle and bustle takes place. But definitely with that of comedy making this movie different from other sports films and a must-watch.

New Teaser Unveils Tonko House’s Famed Staff for ‘Oni: Thunder God’s Tale’

Best known for The Dam Keeper, an Oscar-nominated short film released in 2014, the animation studio, Tonko House, has just revealed glimpses of its upcoming project.

Oni: The Thunder God’s Tale is a CGI animated series from the independent studio and is already making headlines after its recent announcement.

Netflix has just posted a new trailer for Oni: Thunder God’s Tale, which will receive four episodes. Tonko House is also collaborating with Japanese studios Megalix VFX, Marza, and Anima.

So, without further ado, let’s check out the latest teaser, which frankly bowled me over with its animation:

Right off the bat, the Japanese monster or yokai theme of the series stands predominant. You can see yokai like kappa, tengu, oni, and others in the teaser.

As the plot progresses, the Tengu identifies himself as the protector of the land and stands against an Oni, a monster who seems to be the antagonistic force in the animation.

The tengu summons someone he addresses as ‘her.’ This might be the protagonist of the film, Onari, a free-spirited monster who has yet to discover her unique powers.

Daisuke Tsutsumi, the art director of many Disney and Pixar works, is the project’s creator and showrunner. Mari Okada, the scriptwriter of works like A Whisker Away, Her Blue Sky, and many such incredible works, is also involved in the series. There’s no doubt that Oni is here to grab your attention and never let go.

The teaser for Oni: Thunder God’s Tale has a unique animation style that made me fall in love with it at first sight, and I can’t wait to see how the Tonko House plays with Japanese folklore to give them a new finish.
