Batman: The Long Halloween’s Artist Tim Sale Passed Away At 66

2022’s Matt Reeves The Batman wouldn’t have been what we see today if it wasn’t for Tim Sale’s work on the original comic book. But with heavy sadness, the artist, popular for iconic characters in the comic book world, Tim Sale passed away at 66.

Sale’s Twitter account came with the official confirmation of the death. The tweet came to tell us that the love of his life was right beside him. It was with heavy sadness they had to announce the news. The cause of death is still under wraps. Earlier this week, DC Publisher Jim Lee had come to tell that legendary artist Tim Sale had severe health issues before Tim Sale passed away today.

Jim Lee talked about Sale stating that the entire DC family is heartbroken at the news. Lee says Sale was an extraordinary artist who was a master at story-telling. Lee was heavily inspired by Sale’s use of lighting and shadows which further infused his work.

Celebrating the legacy of Tim Sale, DC Comics went on to tweet applauding the talent of sale. They say Sale’s take on iconic characters with real human depth. On top of that, groundbreaking designs changed the way a generation looks at comics. The official page also offered condolences to his family and friends.

Throughout his career, Tim Sale’s collaboration with Jeff Loeb and Batman: The Long Halloween had primarily become the big break the artist needed. The comic made Sale the star we know today. Joker: Todd Phillips Officially Announces The Sequel! Joaquin Phoenix Set To Return

After years of speculation and rumors, it is finally confirmed that 2019’s DC standalone movie Joker will get a sequel. Writer and director Todd Phillips shared the first look at the screenplay, revealing the official title — Joker: Folie á Deux — which translates to Joker: Madness for Two! Phillips also confirmed that Joaquin Phoenix will return as the titular character by sharing a photo of Phoenix reading the first draft of the script.

The Joker movie was released in 2019 and it became of the most successful DC movies ever. It grossed $1.074 billion worldwide against a $70 million budget, which makes it the highest-grossing R-rated movie ever. The movie received critical acclaim, and it was nominated for 11 Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Adapted Screenplay. The movie won two Academy Awards, for Best Actor (Phoenix) and Best Original Score, composed by Hildur Guðnadóttir.

The talks about the sequel started almost immediately after DC saw what kind of hit they have. There were a lot of rumors and speculations about the sequel, but now we finally have a legit announcement, although, some viewers thought that the first movie doesn’t need a sequel. The first movie was a massive success, so it’s not a surprise that WB and DC want more of Phoenix’s Joker, we can only hope that Phillips has a story good enough to justify the sequel and live up to the name of Joker.

While WB and DC are still trying to put their DCEU back together, Joker was a standalone film set in Gotham City during the ’80s. While it’s unlikely that we’re ever going to see Jared Leto as DCEU’s Joker again, Phoenix will now definitely return. And let’s not forget about Barry Keoghan, who played the Clown Prince of Crime this year in Matt Reeve’s The Batman starring Robert Pattinson earlier this year. The sequel for The Batman is also in development, and while the first movie teased Joker’s appearance in the sequel, we are now hoping that The Batman 2 will bring some new villains because it would be just too much of Joker if he returns as the main villain in The Batman as well. Of course, we still don’t know when The Batman 2 or Joker 2 will be released.

DC Reveals Offical Trailer For Dwayne Johnson’s ‘Black Adam’

Dwayne Johnson waited 15 years to play this role, and the time has finally come! Warner Bros. and DC revealed the first official trailer for the upcoming DC movie Black Adam! Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is playing a titular anti-hero, and the movie is directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, who worked with Johnson on Disney’s Jungle Cruise.

Dwayne Johnson was first announced to play Black Adam back in 2007. Since then, the project has gone through countless circles of development hell until 2021 when the production finally started. The movie changed numerous writers and directors, only The Rock remained attached to the project. Considering that WB started its DCEU in 2013, it was decided that Black Adam will be set in that franchise, which means that Johnson’s Black Adam shares the universe with Zachary Levi’s Shazam, who is set to get his sequel in December this year after making his debut in 2019.

Although Black Adam is known as Shazam’s archnemesis, it was reported that they will not meet before the eventual Shazam 3, and considering how long Johnson waited to play this role, it’s almost certain that this upcoming movie won’t be the only project in which we’ll watch him as Black Adam.

Black Adam is set to introduce not only a titular anti-hero in DCEU, but also a whole Justice Society of America. Pierce Brosnan is set to debut as Doctor Fate, and the movie also stars Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, Quintessa Swindell as Maxine Hunkel/Cyclone, and Sarah Shahi as Adrianna Tomaz.

Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, Black Adam is set to be released on October 21, 2022.
